I know there is a forum on oil usage but not many people with 6.2s.I have one in a 2011 Silverado with just over 100,000kilometers.Had a oil change done 3000k ago and checked oil and it is down half way on dipstick now.Any one else with these kilometers, seeing these motors starting to use oil?

Do you have any leaks?

Ryan new you had one. This one i have has no leaks anywhere, spotless.Runs perfect but this winter i noticed it going down between oilchanges.7500k to 10000k max on oilchange.Have not went to dealer yet but i know the BS they are going to tell me.I will end up contacting GM about it .I am going to contact some local owners of these 6.2s to see how they are making out.Warranty to 160,000 k but i am sure they will say it is within there specs of oil usage.

I had a leak (oil cooler line) and never noticed a drop in fluid level

You run a catch can? Mine picks up a bunch of nasty stuff.

I have 40k original miles on my 2013 Yukon, with no oil consumption problems whatsoever.

Look at your exhaust pipe, and remote start it in the morning, does it puff blue smoke?

Catch Can is not going to save a liter of oil in 3000k unless it has a lot of BLOWBY.Started the truck this am in the shop and no bluesmoke.

I know I was just curious if you were running one

May not help on a 6.2. Exhaust pipe goes straight out the back on a 6.2 truck.

Using a litre of oil in 3 thousand kilometers is not likely going to be considered excessive, especially since no smoke. The best you can hope for on first visit is for them to want to do a consumption test. They will top the oil up(if needed) and ask you to come back in a thousand kilometers, or maybe 2 thousand. Isn't there some issue with AFM and oil consumption? Does your truck have AFM?

Posted

These 6.2 trucks do not have AFM
